Spring Clean Your Health

One of my most favorite things to do once April comes along is spring-cleaning.  I rip open my closets and remove all of the items that seem to “weigh me down.” Let’s just say that the Salvation Army has come to expect a significant uptick in my giving in May.

Spring-cleaning, however, is also an activity to consider for your health.  This spring, aim to eliminate the foods that are taking a toll on your energy, your weight and your overall well-being, and get to the spa for a little detox.  Here are some ideas to put a little extra spring in your step!

Outdoor Fitness for Spring

Recently, as the temperature has slowly warmed and as I’ve watch the buds on the trees start to form and local gardening crews do their magic, I’ve been inspired.  One of the reasons that I love the warmer weather is simply because I get outside more.  The Spring, Summer, and even Fall, represent a whole new world of fun-loving activity, especially when my body and mind feel as though they have been reduced to full-on cabin fever.

If you are at your wits end from the colder weather and feel as though the idea of a workout has been much of an afterthought for the last few months, your outlook is about to change:

Greek Yogurt Parfait

A great twist to the traditional granola parfait. This version has less sugar, is higher in fiber and antioxidants, and is better balanced than its traditional counterpart. It takes only 5 minutes to make!
Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup Raw Oats
  • 3/4 cup Non-Fat Plain Greek Yogurt
  • 3/4 cup Mixed-Berries (Use frozen berries if they are out of season)
